Ivana Hrga is a research associate whose professional and research work encompasses aerobiology, melissopalynology, air quality in the work environment, and water microbiology. Her mission is to strengthen public understanding of the impact of airborne biological particles on health — translating scientific insights into concrete public health programs and environmental protection policies.
She is the author of 40 original scientific and professional papers and actively participates in international projects and public education.
EXPERIENCE
Areas of expertise and focus:
● Laboratory and field leadership: Establishment of aerobiology and melissopalynology activities in the Aerobiology Laboratory of the Teaching Institute of Public Health "Dr. Andrija Štampar"; long-term leadership of the Department for Living and Working Environment.
● Allergenic pollen monitoring network: Active role in the formation and education of the national network of institutes for monitoring airborne allergenic pollen.
● Programs and projects: Development and implementation of programs in environmental health and workplace environment testing; experience in international projects (EU COST Action, IRI, Interreg).
● Professional bodies: Member of the Croatian Society of Biologists in Healthcare; expert of the Croatian Accreditation Agency in the field of aerobiological and melissopalynological analyses.
● Science communication: Regular public education on the impact of airborne biological particles on health.
